Connections between the home and school are an essential component of school success. Making these connections at an early age can have an impact for years to come.
In this 3 hour training, teachers and parent liaisons learn how to facilitate each of the six themed 60-minute Teaching Together workshops. Participants leave this facilitator session with a manual and an understanding of how to access videos and materials in order to conduct successful Teaching Together family workshops on their campus.
In each workshop, families are presented with two specific strategies that encourage early literacy skills. Children and families engage in an interactive learning experience through a shared book reading, followed by visits to hands-on activity stations. The workshops are delivered to meet the school’s and families’ needs. They can be offered in sequential order or by theme, and can be delivered over a series of weeks or months.
